Leberl says referee rang to apologise for Charles-Cook red card

Dover's manager says Craig Barnett called him the day after the Chelmsford game. Only Leberl has said this.

Dover manager Jake Leberl says referee Craig Barnett rang him the day after Tuesday's 1-0 home defeat to Chelmsford City to apologise for sending off Roman Charles-Cook. Leberl told KentOnline the referee had "admitted that he got it wrong".

Leberl had earlier said Barnett would not speak to him after the game, and he repeated that frustration: "It would have been nice to have spoken to him after the game." Dover won their appeal and the red card was overturned, so Charles-Cook played the full game in Saturday's 1-0 win over Farnham Town.

Only Leberl has described the call. Neither the referee nor the league has commented.

This updates our earlier story: Leberl says referee would not speak to him after Chelmsford defeat.
