Ainsworth asks Gillingham fans to get behind the players at Shrewsbury
Gills boss says his side are two points off the play-offs after one point from three games.
Gareth Ainsworth has asked Gillingham fans to back the players rather than vent their frustration before Saturday's League Two trip to Shrewsbury Town.
The Gills lost 3-1 at Accrington Stanley on 17 October, drew 1-1 at home to Port Vale on 20 October and lost 4-1 at home to Grimsby Town on 24 October.
He told KentOnline that fans should “breathe deeply, don't get too angry because there's no point, it's not good for your health and stresses as well, so let's get behind the boys on Saturday.”
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Ainsworth said: “We need to create more chances, much more chances than we have been doing.”
He said Gillingham are still two points off the play-offs, with players returning from injury, and that it is his job to put right “the 15-minute collapse”. Shrewsbury is Ainsworth's former club.
