Gillingham win at Shrewsbury for the first time in ten years
Shrewsbury Town 1-2 Gillingham. Harry Waldock scored his first Football League goal and Andy Smith got the winner.
Harry Waldock put Gillingham ahead after three minutes with his first Football League goal, set up by McManus. George Lloyd equalised from the penalty spot on 59 minutes after Brophy fouled Sang.
Andy Smith won it on 80 minutes after Dack's cross came back off the bar. Nick Freeman took a knock in the build-up to the winner and was replaced on 82 minutes. The attendance was 5,255.
Gareth Ainsworth made four changes, bringing in Dobbs, Waldock, Sillah and Coleman, on his first game back at his old club. KentOnline said it was only Gillingham's second win in seven games and their first at Shrewsbury in ten years.
Waldock, recalled after being dropped for Port Vale and unused against Grimsby, played alongside James Brophy behind Lamin Sillah and Ronan Hale. Ainsworth said: "I think Harry wanted to toughen up in that midfield and I thought he was sensational, really was." He added: "His first league goal. He won't forget that for a while. It was a magic moment for him." Quotes via KentOnline.
