Maidstone United agree outline terms for sale of controlling interest
The club's board says the prospective investors are experienced football club owners and are now carrying out due diligence.
Maidstone United have agreed outline terms for the sale of a controlling interest in the club, directors Oliver Ash and Terry Casey have told supporters.
In a letter on the club site, they say a fresh wave of investor interest in recent weeks led them to focus on one group in particular, whose people are experienced football club owners.
The prospective investors are now carrying out detailed financial, legal and operational due diligence. The board says this is normal in deals of this kind, although it can be complex and time-consuming.
The process has taken longer than they first hoped, but they believe it is now moving in a positive direction. They say they have focused on finding the right long-term partner rather than the quickest solution.
Discussions remain confidential. The board hopes to share further news before the end of the year if progress continues as expected.
